Apartment, de Pijp, Amsterdam
The apartment was bought by the client 20 years ago in the Pijp district, which over time has become one of the most desirable places to live in Amsterdam.
The client, who creates music, needed a noise-limiting workspace. We created a ‘room within a room’, thanks to which the musician can work peacefully without disturbing the neighbours, a unique feature in the historic tenement architecture of Amsterdam.
The room is encased in multiple insulation layers and finished with hand-shaped wooden panels that add warmth and aesthetic quality to the apartment.
Additionally, we influenced the colour of the building's historic facade. We chose a shade of grey green, which fits beautifully with the rusty brick of the neighbouring buildings.
