AvB nomination for the best graduation project in the Netherlands 2020 “KupierCompagnons Afstudeerprijzen” organized by the magazine “Blauwe Kamer”. Cum Laude honored.
The diploma project seeks to address the fragmented nature of Warsaw, a city subjected to frequent political upheavals throughout the 20th century. Recognizing both the physical and mental divisions within the Polish capital, the project advocates for comprehensive improvements through a combination of environmental interventions and reforms in spatial planning processes.
Spanning three scales, the work delves into the unique urban dynamics of Poland and the Netherlands, featuring interviews with politicians, city architects, activists, and residents of Warsaw. At its core, the thesis proposes a restructuring of hierarchical structures and a promotion of dialogue as essential steps towards fostering unity and cohesion within the city.
